This is a three part drama situation that happened over the span of about three years with multiple beauty influencers.
Firstly, in 2018, multiple content creators decided to throw shade and allegations against both Jeffree Star and Laura Lee for being racist and overall just not being good people. It caused them both to lose thousands of followers, lose brand deals, and other opportunities and was overall, something that took them years to recover from.
In 2019, the beauty influencer community once again cancelled content creators, which started when an influencer named Tati Westbrook made a video called “BYE SISTER,” how James Charles betrayed her as a friend for promoting a rival company to her own and then preying on straight men. James, therefore, lost thousands of followers and followed up the accusations with his own 41-minute video debunking everything, and all was calm for a while.
Finally, in 2020, Tati Westbrook once again made a video, this time titled “BREAKING MY SILENCE,” and talked about how she was forced to make the video about James the year prior by Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson. The internet then turned on the latter two and once again, thousands of fans stopped following them and they lost money and brand deals.
Overall, can we all just agree to not be messy anymore?
